Our honey is unique in the world. The place alone makes this honey something special: Etna, the most active volcano in Europe. The lava soil allows the production of unique food products that can only be found at the foot of the volcano. The honey is one of the most famous and popular, produced thanks to a beekeeping system that has its heart in Zafferana Etnea, where honey is the main source of income. It is therefore also called “Gold of Etna”.
The story: in 1920, in Zafferana Etnea, a humble worker who was particularly interested in bees and honey decided to dedicate his life to the activity of beekeeper. He turned his passion into his profession. This is how the “lapari” (Sicilian beekeepers) grew up. Honey production was therefore not just a hobby, it became a real profession, which is still accessible through training courses.
