How to choose sunglasses for your face shape
Round, oval, square or heart-shaped face? One simple rule, three measurements to check and a few tips on colours to find sunglasses that really suit you.
The golden rule: contrast
Opticians have always said it: a frame flatters a face when it creates a contrast with its features. Soft lines for an angular face, strong lines for a soft face. It isn’t a law, but it is a great starting point.
Round face
Full cheeks, soft chin, similar width and length. Square or rectangular frames suit you: they add structure and make the face look longer. Better to avoid very small, round shapes.
Square face
Strong jawline and broad forehead. Round or panto shapes work well here, softening the angles.
Oval face
Balanced proportions: lucky you, almost everything suits you. Choose a frame as wide as the widest part of your face.
Heart-shaped face
Broad forehead and narrow chin. Try frames that are round or light at the top to balance the forehead.
The three measurements to check
On the temple of every pair you’ll find three numbers, for example 49□22–145: lens width, bridge (the distance between the lenses) and temple length, in millimetres. If you already own a pair that fits well, compare these numbers: it is the safest way to buy online. Lenses of 45–47 mm suit smaller faces, 51–52 mm wider faces.

What about colour?
Contrast matters here too. Tortoiseshell and tawny frames are warm and suit almost everyone, especially olive or tanned skin. Crystal and transparent shades are light and discreet, perfect for fair skin. Bold colours like yellow, orange or blue are a statement for those who want to stand out.
The wooden temples add a natural detail: walnut, maple, kosso or sapele each have a different grain and every pair is unique. You’ll find all shapes and colours in our wooden sunglasses collection.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find out my face shape?
Tie back your hair, look in the mirror and trace the outline of your face with a washable marker. Compare the width of your forehead, cheekbones and jaw: the shape you see is yours.
What size of sunglasses do I need?
Look at the numbers on the temple of a pair that already fits you (e.g. 49□22–145) and choose similar measurements. A few millimetres make a difference.
Do round sunglasses suit everyone?
They suit square, oval and heart-shaped faces best. With a very round face, a square frame is a better choice.
Are wooden frames comfortable?
Yes, wood is light and doesn’t heat up in the sun like metal. Many of our models also have spring hinges.

The right shape is the one you recognise yourself in. Choose with your heart, check the measurements and enjoy the sun.
