Swimming in the ice, in the middle of the woods
The German Ice Swimming Championships take place in the heart of the countryside, at the Landhotel Altes Zollhaus in Neuhermsdorf. Distances range from 50 to 1,000 metres, in icy water at around 2 °C.
The hotel sits 800 metres above sea level, so at the end of February the cold is just right. The hotel has four saunas, there is a hot tub between the hotel and the lake, and a large sauna tent stands right by the race lake.

You’ve just come out of the water, which is 2 °C. Between the hotel and the lake there’s a hot tub; right by the lake there’s a large sauna tent; and there are four more saunas in the hotel. Use them to get your body temperature back up to normal.

Registration is open until 10 February 2027, 8.00 pm. If the maximum number of participants for a particular discipline is reached, registration will close immediately. Swimming events will be held in accordance with IISA regulations.
