Cefalù: sea and mountains within a few kilometres

We live and work here, between the sea and the Madonie mountains. Every summer friends and guests ask us: “Which beach should we go to?”.Here are our answers, starting with our favourite.

Kalura Bay (Caldura) – the most beautiful

If you ask us which is the most beautiful beach around Cefalù, we don’t hesitate: Kalura Bay. East of the centre, among rocks and sea stacks, the water is crystal clear and turquoise – perfect for snorkelling and swimming between the rocks. This is our home turf: Hotel Kalura sits right on the bay, the ideal place to stay just steps from this water.

Cefalù beach – the seafront

The most famous one: a long sandy beach right below the old town, with the Rocca and the Cathedral in the background. Convenient, with beach clubs and free stretches. Our tip: go early in the morning or towards sunset, when the light on the old town is magical.

Sant’Ambrogio

Continuing east, the small village of Sant’Ambrogio has a rocky, pebbly shoreline that is quiet and rarely crowded.

Finale di Pollina

Further east, a wide beach that is perfect for long swims and for those looking for space.

Heading west: Mazzaforno, Settefrati, Salicone, Ogliastrillo

West of Cefalù the coastline breaks up into many coves: Mazzaforno with its rocks, Settefrati with the sand and rocks of the legend of the seven brothers, the bay of Salicone and little Ogliastrillo. These are the beaches we prefer for a quiet day.

Further on, towards Lascari and Campofelice di Roccella, long sandy beaches open up.
